Over Eighty Thrift Sales!

OK! The Eastside Hill’s neighborhood-wide thrift sale is all set for Saturday (May 22). And get this! As of Wednesday night, we’ve got 83 sales signed up. That’s just crazy. So please get all your friends and family and your friends’ families to come on down!

You can download a map from the super official thrift sale page. And new this year, the super handy paper maps will be available, beginning Thursday morning, in drop boxes conveniently placed around the neighborhood. There will be six plastic boxes containing maps located at the following corners:

• Margaret Street and Main Street
• Barland Street and Talmadge Street
• Hogeboom Avenue and Lee Street
• Fenwick Avenue and Lee Street
• Fenwick Avenue and Keith Street
• Highland Avenue and Margaret Street

If you’re holding a thrift sale, we made a page with answers to many of your questions. Check it out!

Hastings Way Redesign Public Meeting

Like many of you, the Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association was contacted by the City of Eau Claire about the upcoming public input meeting for the Hastings Way reconstruction project – expected to start in 2011. Hastings is a major road in the city and in the neighborhood. It’s our eastern border, but in it’s current form, it’s also a kind of barrier blocking foot and bicycle traffic from the businesses and residents on the other side. Our input on the redesign is among the city’s most valuable. This is an important opportunity to learn and be heard.

The meeting (the first in a series) is scheduled for Thursday, May 27, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Regis High School. Read more!

Steering Committee Finds Open Chair

The Eastside Hill Steering Committee has an opening for an individual who wants to contribute just a small fraction of their time to making our neighborhood THE place to live in Eau Claire. If you even remotely match this description, please attend the next steering committee meeting on Thursday, June 10th at 6:30pm at the Boyd Park Pavilion.

If multiple people are interested, a steering committee vote will be used to appoint the new member. This open position will be filling the final three months of a two-year term. The appointed member would need to run again during the fall neighborhood-wide meeting, along with the other committee members whose term is expiring. Feel free to email me for more information: president@eastsidehill.com
