Thursday, July 1 » Picnic Planning Meeting

There will be a special meeting on Thursday, July 1, at 5:00pm at the Boyd Park Pavilion for anyone interested in helping to plan and put together this year’s Annual neighborhood Picnic – which will happen on Saturday, August 7. We didn’t have a picnic last year, so the summer of 2010 marks its triumphant return.

Please attend if you can. Even if you don’t have time to volunteer this year, the steering committee needs input and ideas – it’s a blank slate!

Volunteers Needed for National
Kubb Championship

The Eastside Hill Steering Committee is looking for volunteers to help during the U.S. National Kubb Championship that will take place at Boyd Park on Saturday, July 17th. Over 60 teams are scheduled to compete in this growing, family-friendly game! Volunteers will help with set-up, registration, t-shirt sales, and tear down. You can help with as much or as little as you’d like! This is a great way to meet some interesting people and learn more about Kubb. If you’re interested in helping, please contact: president@eastsidehill.com.

This is a fund-raising event that will benefit USA for UNHCR (Darfur, Sudan), and the Girls on the Run Eau Claire County. You can read more about kubb, regional kubb events, and the kubbolution as a whole at www.wisconsinkubb.com.

The Eastside Hill Softball Team
Actually Won a Game!

If you haven’t been keeping up with the neighborhood’s softball team, The Nightcrawlers, make sure you keep checking the website for manager Joe Thielen’s weekly updates. On June 11, the team achieved its first victory, beating Scheels Sports 14-3. Way to go, team! You can catch up on Manager Thielen’s hilarious play-by-plays right here.

We need stories!

The Eastside Hill Newsletter started in the mid-nineties and has since maintained a great tradition of terrific articles written by individuals who love living here. Let’s keep that going! If you’ve got something to say – some news, a memory, a great idea, historical research, opinions, anything – send it our way! Submit stories here.

Please feel EXTREMELY free to forward this email to anyone you know who might be interested!
