On the evening of Thursday, May 22nd, 2014, the Eastside Hill Steering Committee met at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Members in attendance were:

Mike & Shannon Paulus
Jamie Kampf

Mark Ruddy

Members absent were:
Mark Wesenberg
Jason Anhorn
Sara & Joe Thielen
William Kampf
Sally Broker

*Thanks to Mike & Shannon for orchestrating the Neighborhood Thrift Sale.  The East Hill was jumping on Saturday and the good comments abounded.  9 Degrees, the balloon guy and St. John’s food tent were great partners.

*Shannon reported spending $26.22 for the Thrift Sale ad.  Mark R. has expenses for the bulletin board posters totaling $78.91.  It was determined that Gina K. would know how the reimbursement from CDBG needs to happen.

*The August Neighborhood Picnic was the next topic.  Jamie was able to see that the 17th was an open date at the Boyd Park Pavilion.  She booked it so that we would have the certainty of a date.  Changes will be subject to availability.

*Mark R. shared that he, Mark W., Doug Reace and Todd Chwala had met at the Prairie to discuss the Prairie and the shelter garden.  Apparently the perennial plantings are being taken over by an invasive plant that was introduced by the soil that was supplied by the city.  Mark W. has suggested that the plant selections be changed to a prairie garden, and Todd was supportive.

*It was agreed that EHNA seems to be the most used and accepted acronym for the association.

*Mark R. thanked Mike for his care of the website.  He suggested that perhaps steering committee contact info could be shared there.

*There was conversations about the by-laws, amendments and the boundaries of the neighborhood.

*Jamie gave us a Sign Contest update from William.  Evidently there are even more hoops to jump through.  The land is zoned such that the City Council will have to discuss and vote to change zoning in order for us to place signs.

*Mike shared that we received great feedback to the photo contest.  It was suggested that perhaps it become an annual event – maybe with categories (i.e. architecture, gardens, East Hill life).

*Shannon is delving into the idea of a vegetable surplus stand that would operate like a Little Library.  There are folks who have expressed interest and sites are being identified.

These minutes reflect the conversation that was our meeting.  As we had no quorum, no votes were taken and the meeting was informal.  The next meeting will be June 19th.  Location to be announced.

Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Gautsche
