Public Comments
Chris Johnson, owner of Passion Board Shop and founder of the Eau Claire Skaters Association was our guest.  Chris, Gabe Brummert and Kyle Gostomski are working together on a plan for multiple skate parks, easily accessible from the bike trails across Eau Claire.  EC Parks and Rec director, Phil Fieber encouraged the group to visit with neighborhood associations in areas concerning space for skate park locations.  Chris hoped that perhaps Boyd Park might have enough space available to accommodate a skate park without losing any of the activities that already take place there, i.e. winter ice rink.  After considerable discussion of the idea, it was agreed that the topic be addressed at the semi-annual meeting in September.  ECSA was also encouraged to have a table and info at the picnic too.

Guest Gina Keenan – Along with the reconstruction set to begin on Brackett Ave., the city is reviewing the Comprehensive Plan.  This is an opportunity for the neighborhood to have a voice in making the street more pedestrian and people friendly.  As business come and go from those locations, it’s also a chance to change the ‘flavor’ of that corridor for the future.

It was moved (Mark R) and seconded (Mark W) and unanimously decided that William will be our representative to the City Comprehensive Plan Committee.

Committee Business
It was moved (Mark W) and seconded (Shannon) that the Minutes of the 6/19/14 Steering Committee minutes be approved. The vote was unanimous.

Shannon got the post office box renewal handled.  She reported that we currently have $237.33 in our checking account, and $107.47 in cash.  The $83 renewal fee for the association’s post office box leaves us with a balance of $261.80.

It was moved (Lynn) and seconded (Mark W) that the Treasurer’s Report we accept the report.  The vote was unanimous.

Old Business

Neighborhood Picnic
Mark W has given the completed donation form to Tim Laubach.  Mega meets regularly to make determinations about donations, and we are waiting to hear back from them.  Mark R. will call Sherry at Mega to follow up.

Picnic schedule is as follows:
11:00 -3:00 – committee participation (two shifts)
11:00 – 1:15
1:15 – 3:00
Serving noon – 2:00

Shannon will contact the Balloon Man to see if he wishes to twist for tips.  We will have a planning/details meeting on August 6th, at 6:30 PM at Boyd Park.

Miscellany
There was discussion concerning whether or not to approach the folks near ‘Memorial’ neighborhood and inviting them to become part of the Eastside Hill association.  What boundaries make sense?  Is the west side part of Putnam Hills?  What are the Flynn boundaries?  How would we extend the invitation?

Gina let us know that the intersection paintings designed by the Flynn 5th graders are in the works.  She will keep us posted.  She also proposed a Kubb Derby exclusive to East Hill residents

Sara mentioned that Todd Chwala had spoken to the Genealogical Society about rehabing the chapel in Forest Hill.  It is in need of a power source.

Thanks to Roger & Mark for the great job they did building the garden stand! We will proceed with again locking the bulletin Board.  Prairie Garden clean-up.  (See LT article)  7/27/14 Our Savior’s & First Lutheran are helping with the clean up and a lunch.

These minutes reflect the conversation that was our meeting.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.  The next meeting will be August 6th; 6:30 PM at Boyd Park.

Respectfully submitted,
Lynn Gautsche
