HELP: We need your input on Margaret Street improvement

Four-way stops? Painted crosswalks? Bike Lanes? The Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association (EHNA) Steering Committee seeks your input as a neighborhood resident. The Steering Committee has begun the process of working with the City of Eau Claire to make improvements to Margaret Street that will make the street SAFER for all users – drivers, walkers, bikers, and bus riders. Our goal with this survey is to determine the level of support that you and your neighbors hold for this possibility.

Please complete this survey before January 21 when we have our next EHNA Steering Committee meeting and will discuss the results – your response will still be counted if it comes in after January 21, though. You are welcome to attend this meeting and any Steering Committee meeting. The meeting is this Thursday, January 21 at 6:30 PM at Spirit Lutheran Church (1310 Main St.). We are grateful for your consideration and participation in this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GS6YXXD

Fundraising Campaign: Boyd Park Bathrooms

The Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association is kicking off a fundraising campaign to allow for the Boyd Park bathrooms to be open during normal park hours.

The EHNA has the goal of raising $4,025 by the end of March to ensure the work will be done and the bathrooms open by the beginning of summer. This money will pay for upgrades to install electronic locks, wiring upgrades, security cameras and internet connections that will make Boyd Park a free Wifi hotspot for all park users. (The Eau Claire Office of Community Development will contribute half of the total $8,050 cost of this upgrade through their Neighborhood Matching Fund Program.)

The neighborhood association is excited about this project and having these bathrooms available for use not only for people who live in the neighborhood but for those who use the park because of its proximity to the bike trail.

“As taxpayers, we paid for these bathrooms to be built. It seems silly for them not to be open most of the time for us to use them.” Jodi Emerson, Eastside Hill Steering Committee Member

“I take my young kids over to the park frequently to play. We would be able to play much longer if the bathrooms were available. Oftentimes, we get to the park and play for a few minutes before someone has to go to the bathroom. Our options, at that point, are to tell the kids to use the woods or we have to go home. These bathrooms need to be available for all of us to use.” Chad Rowekamp, Eastside Hill Steering Committee Member

Those who wish to contribute to this fundraising campaign can send a check to:

Eau Claire Community Parks Association
915 Menomonie St
Eau Claire, WI 54703

Please make sure to include a note indicating this donation is for the Boyd Park bathroom upgrades or write “Boyd Park” in the memo line.

• Team Tiry Real Estate of 1820 Brackett Avenue has contributed $500 for our campaign.
• Jane Fisher from Caldwell Banker Realty has supported our campaign with a $200 contribution.
