Submitted by Editor on September 18, 2015 – 3:49 pm | Print or Email »No Comment

Steering Committee Members attending: Mark W, Mark R, Lynn, Sally, Jason A, Jason D, Shannon, Cortney

Steering Committee Members Absent: Gina, Jen, Tim

Representatives from the Chippewa Valley Time Bank, the Eau Claire Skaters Assn., City-County Health Dept. on Radon Testing, Earthbound Environmental Solutions, and our neighborhood police officers were there to answer questions and provide us with information.

Radon kits are available for $8 (with coupon provided at the City County Health Dept); normal cost is $10.  The test should be conducted on the lowest level of a dwelling, and it can be mailed in for evaluation.

Gabe Brummett from the Eau Claire Skaters Association gave us a peek at one architects vision of what a skate park might look like in Boyd Park (a long, narrow footprint mainly on the southern edge of Boyd Park).

Dave Strobel, neighbor and city councilperson-at-large spoke about alley policies.  Plowing is not currently possible by city crews.  Maintenance and the condition of the alley pavement is being rated and part of a 10 year improvement plan.  Assessments would occur as in street improvements.  The CDBG could fund some of the assessments.  Dave was seeking the input of those neighbors who would be affected by any changes.

Chad Rowekamp brought up again his wish to have the restrooms at Boyd Park open more public use.

Councilperson Strobel volunteered to look into this issue along with Chad.

Mark Wesenberg, spoke briefly about the history of the Neighborhood Association.  He brought albums of newspaper clippings, etc. that he’s collected concerning the work of the association and its effect on the growth and evolution of the neighborhood.

Elections were held for open Steering Committee vacancies.  Jodi Emerson agreed to fill the one year term.  Sally, Shannon and Cortney agreed to serve another two year term, and Chad Rowekamp, AJ Swenson and Chris Caldwell joined them in new two year terms.  We thank those who are leaving the steering committee and appreciate their service.  Officers will be elected at the October meeting.

AND, (added by  Mark Ruddy): Lynn has been an awesome Secretary and has set a very high standard. And my special thanks to William Kampf who had resigned before this meeting, Mark Wesenberg, Jason Anhorn, and Mark Wesenberg; their collective service over the years has kept us anchored in our mission and working on new ways to serve our Neighborhood.
