Join us to improve our Neighborhood. Here are projects you can join; consider championing a new improvement. Thank you for all you already do. For more information contact Steering Committee President Mark Ruddy via markruddy55@yahoo.com or 839-7949.

Join the Steering Committee of the Association; there are often openings.

Become a “Friends of EHNA”: help at an event to prevent Steering Committee burn-out, e.g., staff a fundraiser, serve hot chocolate at Boyd Park winter events.

Be a “Keeper of the Prairie”: work with others to maintain and improve our 1.5 acre Prairie, e.g., remove young tree, pull out invasive species, be a Prairie guide.

Join “humanKIND”, our diversity, tolerance, welcoming, inclusiveness committee, to create initiatives that help bring more of our Neighbors into our circle of community; attempting to leave no one out of the circle.

Eau Claire River Access: work with others to develop a safe access to a sandy beach on the river, reachable by Boyd Park; clear out trees and brush, develop an access trail.

Taking Care of Margaret: garden with Neighbors to develop and maintain trees and perennial plantings on the boulevards of Margaret Street from Hogeboom to Valmont Avenues as ways to encourage “traffic calming”, reducing the speed of vehicles, making this street safer.

Help Organize the Annual Photo Contest: help with logistics of putting out the call for images of “easthillness”.

Set up Neighborhood Signage to advertise our meetings and events so that Neighbors can be informed, especially those not reached by our internet messages.

Provide Recreational and Play Equipment at Boyd Park: Equip and maintain storage containers of items like bats and ball, frisbees, badminton, basketballs, etc.

Develop a Master Plan for Boyd Park: help decide aspects of the Park and plan for upcoming additions to the amenities available there while keeping a sense of the whole over time.

Use of Putnam Chapel in Forest Hill Cemetery: explore with the Parks Department the potential uses of the Chapel that could include more access to the Neighbors.

Clear Nature Trail south of Forest Hill Cemetery: remove the downed trees blocking the trails.

Be a Historian: sort and organize materials from EHNA’s past.
