Margaret Groomed Once Again
by EHNA Steering Committee President Mark Ruddy
In early November the year’s final improvements were made in Margaret Street’s boulevards. The city forester planted 6 more trees bringing the number planted this year to 28. And a crew of one cleaned up the spent-looking plants from the boulevards so they won’t look straggly until Spring. If any Neighbors want to turn their Margaret Street boulevard into perennials, or have a tree planted there, contact us by mid December so we can work with our city park’s department to order plants and/or trees.
Because the French word boulevard was originally a raised bulwark or ramparts with a walkway/promenade at the top, we call our perennial gardeners the French terms Boulevaardier for the males and Boulevariere for the females: people who frequent boulevards.
Our next work day will be on Earth Day Saturday of 2018 when we will do a spring clean up of the boulevards. To join us or to get information contact markruddy55@yahoo.com.
Sweet dreams, Margaret…
