Our Neighborhood Association to Apply for 501(C)(3) Status

Neighbors voted overwhelmingly at our Annual Spring Meeting of April 19th to amend our by-laws to conform to federal standards for those applying for Federal Non-Profit status. The second vote to apply for this Non-Profit status was greeted with the same level of support. Steering Committee Member Eric Anderson has drawn up our application and will submit it very soon. The application process costs $275.

The Steering Committee sees these benefits: It allows us to fundraise directly versus going through the Parks and Recs non-profit status. Such status can be a sign of commitment and strength when viewed by grantors of funds; it “gives us status”. This position makes us eligible to solicit potential grants that often are only given to those with this status. We believe we have had a strong fundraising history and can use this quality to effectively raise funds in the future for improvement projects with our Neighbors.

As an Association we value our Neighbors’ trust in us.
