Good News and other announcements:

* Approximately 30 skateboarders helped work on the prairie 7/18. WEAU reported on it.

* Summer Stretch – Eight Summer Stretch participants from St. John’s Lutheran Church helped  Mark Ruddy on the Margaret Street boulevards July 18th.

* Wed., July 25 – debate for state Assembly District 91 to be held at Lazy Monk. Democratic primary candidates: Jodi Emerson, Eric Larson, Rich Postlewaite, Thomas Vue.

Welcome to Police Officer Tyler Larson:

• Theft & Assault Crime trends in Eau Claire’s South District, which we are a part of, are down.  Bike thefts up primarily due to this is typically the season for them.  If bike is stolen give the property officer a call to see if a bike was found.  Write down the bike’s serial number, which is located under the crank area and that makes it easier to identify.

* Fireworks this year had a 20% reduction in cases city wide.

* Boyd Park – Rarely is there a violent incident at Boyd Park. This question was asked since a few neighbors put it as a concern on the recent survey.

Secretary’s Report: for the June 21 minutes approval. Mark Ruddy will contact those who haven’t approved the minutes yet.  Two changes were suggested by Carey.

Treasurer’s Report: No report was given but there is a $20 check for humanKind.  Also was approval to reimburse Laurie Lyne $50 for herbicide certification and safety equipment she purchased.

Old Business:

Analysis of survey with Lori Bica: Lori and Association members went through the survey responses. There were questions regarding humanKind, Boyd Park and the neighborhood in general. There were extensive responses regarding improvements that could be made. About 330 completed surveys were received and categorized by Lori.

Welcome to Mike Paulus: Mike discussed the East Hill website with us.  The current site is 7 years old and updates should be made.  One would be an upgrade on Word Press with new template.  Some suggestions from Mike and the members was possibly letting others do parts of the website to help Mike out.  Possibly having someone work with events, newsletters, facebook, etc. Also need to make the website mobile friendly, which at the current time is not.  The Association gave Mike the approval to get the software that he feels would be best for our needs.

Eau Claire River Access: Chris Buske gave update on the next steps to improving Boyd Park/River Access.  Waiting to see if Chris Silewski from Ayres is able to put together a plan for the park. Before we can proceed with grants we need to have a general plan for overall improvements.  Not sure if we can use Chris of Ayres for this or not. It would cost approximately $7,000 for total park plan.   Chris S. is working with Jeff Pippenger, (Parks Dept.) to sort out what would be needed. Discussion was made regarding the neighborhood getting mixed responses for the city and less support than we’d like.

Kubb Tournament: Eric Anderson thanked the Association for their help setting up the Kubb Tournament.  We had it done in record time.  Eric paid us $300 for our group work.

New Business:

Neighborhood Picnic: Sunday Aug. 19. Committee members:  Shannon Paulus, Mark Ruddy, Michael Rasmussen, Chris Buske – and anyone else who wants to help. It was approved to get quality meat products.

Submitted by Sue Bauer and Mark Ruddy.

Next meeting: Aug. 16, 6:30 p.m.  Location: Boyd Park Shelter
