April 25, 2019 Minutes of the Annual Spring Meeting

Because we did not have a secretary for this meeting I offer this short-cut form of minutes. Thus, these are submitted by Mark Ruddy.

Attendance of the Steering Committee: not attending were Carey, Ben and Ann. Meeting at Spirit Lutheran. Spirit provided snacks. This meeting was a week later than normal due to the church being fully used for pre- Easter services.

Police Dialogue: Lt. Ben Frederick and officer Tyler Stevens gave input in a lengthy discussion on a incident last week on Fleming of a suspected person with a gun and beer. Police responded with about 6 squad cars and weapons in hand. Neighbors understood the need for a serious response and complemented the officers for defusing the situation and explaining their actions with Neighbors.

Other guests: Our two council members Andrew Werthmann and Jeremy Gragert, and our State Representative Jodi Emerson presented themselves and some issues. Jon and Serena Krejchi presented about their CPR classes offered at a reduced price.

Chris described Xcel Energy’s plan in two days to use Xcel’s skills in a service project to improve park access to the Eau Claire River. Tania and Mark explained that in 3 days we will supervise a crew of Xcel volunteers to work on the praire. In addition to the above two service projects Xcel gave us $500 toward our part fundraising project.

Mike and Chris presented on our Boyd Park Plus campaign that includes many possible projects

May 18 is the annual Neighborhood Thrift Sale. The same day we will organize a Craft Market at Boyd Park. Shannon is organizing the Thrift Sale again; Chris and Chad are organizing the Market.

The Steering Committee and friends will set up for the Kubb tournament on July 13. We are paid $300.

The Eau Claire Garden Club gifted us $250 toward work on the prairie and Margaret Street boulevards.
