Do you live in a Sears & Roebuck kit home?
April 9, 2010 – 3:51 am | 7 Comments

“My family grew up on the Easthill and I have always loved the structure of homes I rode by on my bike and went trick or treating to on Halloween. But it wasn’t until I was helping my ‘then future husband” purchase a home that I noticed how similar many of the Easthill homes look. In fact, you could say some looked exactly the same? So I went sleuthing…”

Softball Report, June 1 & June 8 » A lose and a win

Nightcrawler fans everywhere may have missed last week’s installment of our weekly updates. This was not because there was no game. Far from it. Once again, our liberal media took a vacation and failed to report the real news. That’s right. Sportswriter Joe Thielen, a self-described liberal (who recently admitted to thoroughly ‘appreciating’ the writings of Friedrich Engels) took a five day vacation immediately following last week’s game. Mr. Thielen has missed several key stories in the past, but, as a member of the “drive-by media,” promises to make it up to you when he has news he actually wants to report.

Like many of you, the Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association was contacted by the City of Eau Claire about the upcoming public input meeting for the Hastings Way reconstruction project – expected to start in 2011. Hastings is a major road in the city and in the neighborhood. It’s our eastern border, but in it’s current form, it’s also a kind of barrier blocking foot and bicycle traffic from the businesses and residents on the other side. Our input on the redesign is among the city’s most valuable. This is an important opportunity to learn and be heard.

The Eastside Hill team has always been a plucky bunch of characters. Historically we have done well in the postseason. Twice, we’ve won our league championship, and last year we took second place. There is some kind of magic that takes hold of our neighborhood during the early part of August, and we tend to be quite formidable in those times. As for the regular season…umm…not so much.
